Archaeological Museum
DUTCHPALACE, MATTANCHERRY - The Palace, originally built by the Portuguese and presented to the Cochin raja Veera Kerala Varma in 1555, acquired its present name after 1663 when the Dutch carried out some extensive repairs. The Cochin rajas held their coronation ceremoniesin the Central Hall of this double-storey quadrangular building. Rooms adjacent contain breathtaking 17th-century murals depicting scenes from the Puranas and the great epics - the Ramayana and the Mahabharata.Open 10 AM to 5 PM. Closed on Fridays.
This Palace was built and presented by the Portuguese to the Raja of Kochi.It is built in the orient style. It is famous for its mural paintings. It has got a collection of the palanquins, costumes, weapons etc used by the Rajas.

Thattekkadu Bird Sanctuary
This bird sanctuary has one of the rarest species of birds, native to Kerala. It was constituted in 1983 at the catchment area of the Bhhoththan kettu dam. It is 70 kms away from Ernakulam.
Leopard, bear, porcupine, cuckoo, Crimson - throated barbet, bee-eater, sunbird, shrike, fairy bluebird, Python, cobra etc are found here.

Kodanad Elephant Training Centre
The largest Elephant training centre in South India. Elephants are trained for safari riding.

Kumarakom
Spread against a 14 acres of estate Bacor, the English men developed it in to a Bird Sanctuary. Night Herone, Purple moorhen, brahiminy kites, egrets, cormorants, and darters are the rarest species found here.. Set against the backdrop of rich green paddy fields and still grey waters, the place is famous for its scenic beauty
